Come Down
I held your head in my lap
Last night.
I watched you die again.
My hands were damp with the sweat
In your hair and
Your face was wet with my tears.
There was no way to express
The sensation of my breath,
Abandoning my lungs for yours, so in vain
I told you I loved you.
Or did I?
I usually do.
And,
The next time I see you I will.
I will watch you die again
Because now that is the only time
You are around.
